A few months ago I started Brooklyn Galley as a journal of cooking and eating around Brooklyn. The name is sort of a tribute to the small galley kitchens I’ve made the most out of in New York.

The link has been on the sidebar for a while, but I’d like to take this opportunity to formally invite you over for a visit. Think of it as the sister site to Appetite for China, or the place to visit when you’re in the mood for a cocktail or dessert. Or as a spot to read up on what’s new around Brooklyn. And don’t worry, I’m continuing to blog and post more recipes here as well!

Introducing Gourmand Recipes

I am so thrilled to announce the launch of my new project—Gourmand Recipes, with none other than the uber talented Ellie of Almost Bourdain fame. (Ellie is #3 in Babble’s Top 50 Food Mom Blogs 2011 and #5 in Best Photography).

Gourmand Recipes is a food blog about easy everyday cooking and baking. If you had followed Ellie at Almost Bourdain, you would know that Ellie is a wonderful home cook who can whip up amazingly delicious and creative dishes. She is also an excellent baker!

Gourmand Recipes was conceived a few weeks after Ellie bids her farewell to Almost Bourdain. I was sad, that I could no longer ogle her mouthwatering food photography, read her posts, and follow her kitchen journey. We then started emailing each other about her pending move, exchanging life stories (we came from Malaysia and Ellie lived in Penang, my hometown for 8 years), and sharing our dreams. I then came up with the idea of us working together on a new project while she is waiting for her big move. And voila, a delicious and gorgeous looking Gourmand Recipes was born.
